A series of little coincidences

2011-07-26 - Caroline

Hi Everyone,

This is how it all happened - a series of little coincidences brought about the merging of Trycycle and this iconic store:

Trycycle got a call from one of its very good friends (that’s you Suzie) telling us that there was a ‘For Sale’ sign in the Second Childhood shop window. I didn’t give it a thought until I mentioned it to my brother (we were lunching at Ripples, next door to the shop) who said: “You should look into it, it could be fun”. I’m sure he went on to talk about vertical integration and brand synergy (he’s an MBA business geek) but it got me thinking. I phoned the shop, had a chat to Catherine, the lovely owner, we hit it off and it all snowballed from there. She wanted to pass it on to someone who understood the industry and would have the same sensibility and passion – Trycycle ticked all those boxes - and to my mind it couldn’t be a better fit.

Consignors to Second Chidlhood have impeccable taste and you’d be hard pressed to find clothes (and baby equipment, toys & books) in such great condition. In fact, many people can’t tell that they’re recycled. So in a way, Second Childhood is one of Melbourne’s best kept secrets.

Until now! We are letting all our friends know that they will have access to this incredible shop through the website and pop in if you’re in the neighbourhood, i’ll be there every day.

Start shopping, hope to see you soon!
