How it Works: In the Shop

Second Childhood takes goods on consignment, at our discretion. Please bring your items to the shop for us to have a look at and we’ll look at them as quickly as we can to see whether they suit our requirements – this can take a few days, depending on how busy we are.

All clothes must be cleaned and ironed and goods and toys must be in excellent condition and complete.

The consignor receives 50% of the final sale price, less selling fee - as per schedule below - and GST.

Consigned items are displayed for sale for 3 months. After that time it is the responsibility of the consignor to collect payment and/or unsold items. If unsold items aren’t collected within 2 weeks of the end of the consignment date then the goods will be passed onto charity.

Due to the nature of our recycle boutique, Second Childhood may from time to time offer special discounts to our customers or put items on sale without notice.

Schedule of selling fees for items sold:

• Item sold for under $5 = Nil fee
• Item sold for $5 to $49 = $1 fee per item
• Item sold for $50 to $99 = $2 fee per item
• Item sold for $100 to $199 = $5 per item
• Item sold for $200 + = $10.00 fee per item

Please note that goods are consigned to Second Childhood at the consignor’s risk, in the event of disaster, damage or theft and that Second Childhood will not be responsible for items in those circumstances.

Second Childhood makes it all so easy for you to buy or sell quality recycled designer children's clothes.

Buying

Just browse our easy to navigate categories and when you find something you like just pop it in your shopping cart. Before you know it, your gorgeous designer clothes will be at your door. Buy more than one item and combine shipping costs!

Selling

Second Childhood makes selling simple and fun.

Once you've selected your items for Second Childhood, send them to us, or drop them into the shop, we'll photograph, describe and price them and put them on our website for everyone to discover.

We're searching for designer clothes in excellent condition, so if you're not sure about the brands you want to sell or their condition, just contact Second Childhood and we'll quickly sort it out.

Once your clothes appear on the Second Childhood site, that's when the real fun begins - watching your items presented for sale. When your piece has been snapped up we'll pay you 50% of the sale price (less selling fee & GST) on our monthly cycle. 

The following selling fees apply to items sold: under $5 = nil; $5 - $29 = $1; $30 - $49 = $2; $50 - $99 =$3; $100 - $199 = $5; $200 - $299 = $10; $300+ =$20

If your clothes don't sell after 3 months we'll put them onto our sale racks. If they haven't sold after that you can either pick them up or we'll donate them to charity.

Selling Conditions

We accept:

• Quality brand children’s accessories – shoes, hats, stockings etc.
• Items/Clothes in excellent condition – cleaned, preferably pressed and not more than 2 years old

 We do not accept:

• Very worn items – no stains or excessive fading
• Items with missing buttons or broken zips
• Damaged items

Items can either be sent to Second Childhood, dropped off at the shop or picked up by arrangement.

Articles not accepted will be sent back (at consignees cost) or donated to charity.

Items accepted are priced by Second Childhood.

A confirmation email will be sent listing goods for sale, consignment and customer number.

Consignees receive 50% of the sale price once the item has sold (less selling fee & GST)

Payments are made monthly by direct debit or cheque.

After 3 months (depending on season & garage sale) items will be donated to charity or returned (at consignees cost)

Buying Conditions

• Confirmation of order will be sent by email with order number.
• Order dispatched within 1-2 days (with those that are received on weekends or public holidays dispatched next working day).
• Orders delivered (depending on postage choice) in 2-5 working days after full payment is received and cleared through Paypal/Direct Debit.
• Contact us promptly if a package is delayed, arrives damaged or not at all.

• Standard Delivery $9.50
• Express Delivery $12.50

Returns

Returns can be organised within seven (7) days.
